The wolf a keystone species
Wolves are definitely back in the Netherlands. Since 2017, wolves have been settling permanently in our country and there are now several packs and territorial wolves living in various provinces, including the Veluwe, Drenthe, Friesland and Overijssel. Puppies have been born in the Veluwe for several years in a row, confirming that the wolf has settled here permanently.
The return of this iconic predator has a major impact on nature and the landscape and plays an important role in the restoration of natural ecosystems. ARK illustrator Jeroen Helmer has created a beautiful illustration of the significance and benefits of the wolf for nature.
